STORYLINES

Call Tuesday's matchup a tune-up game for U of L with the UK rivalry game coming up on Saturday. The Cardinals will be heavy favorites against Cal State Northridge. Assuming they start fast, Tuesday can provide them a chance to see Shaqquan Aaron in his first game action and some extra experience for young big men like Anas Mahmoud, Jaylen Johnson and perhaps even Matz Stockman.

Cal State Northridge has the type of profile that screams serious underdog. The Matadors, coached by former Rick Pitino assistant Reggie Theus, rank near the bottom of Division I college basketball is offensive efficiency. They are 346th in 3-point shooting percentage and 233rd in field-goal percentage. They have done well protecting the ball (with a solid 18 percent turnover rate) but the rest of the numbers are cringe-worthy.

Terry Rozier's emergence this season was widely considered the most important element of Louisville replacing All-American guard Russ Smith. And after a rough shooting start, the 6-foot-1 Rozier has evened out in the past four games. He's shot 50.9 percent over that stretch, including a much-improved 45 percent from 3-point range.
