STORYLINES

Clemson's had quite an intriguing start to the season. The Tigers are 3-1 against the SEC, beating LSU, Arkansas and Auburn. But they've lost to Winthrop, Gardner-Webb and Rutgers. UNC and South Carolina routed them, too, and while both Carolinas typically play uptempo basketball, they played to Clemson's slow-it-down style and still thumped them.

Chris Jones had his best game of the season against Wake Forest, and perhaps the best game of his college career. He was efficient, calm and smart with his decisions. Beyond the raw stats -- 22 points, 10 assists -- Jones did the little things that U of L coach Rick Pitino wanted him to do. When he dribbled into trouble, he stayed under control and either dribbled out of it or found an open teammate. Simple stuff.

A huge part of U of L's winning formula is quantity of free-throw attempts. The Cards rank 12th in the nation in trips to the foul line, and the sheer number of free throws helped offset their poor shooting percentage. But that trend is reversing. Louisville's made 75.6 percent of its free throws over the past six games.
