After Marcus Paige's go-ahead runner and the University of Louisville's misses at the other end, Dick Vitale emphatically yelled on ESPN's broadcast Saturday: "Booyah! Booyah! Booyah!"

It wasn't Vitale cheering for the Tar Heels but rather a tribute to his late ESPN co-worker, Stuart Scott, at Scott's alma mater.

Still, the remarks it didn't sit so well with some U of L fans and at least one former player.

Tweeted Marques Maybin: "Honestly i don't think that was a tribute to Stuart Scott..... ..DICK VITALE TRUE EMOTIONS + ESPN COVER UP!!"

Maybin's feelings were backed up by a number of Cards fans.

But overwhelming sentiment toward Vitale's tribute was positive. ESPN's initial social media post carrying the video was retweeted more than 1,600 times in the first half hour it was posted.
