After two games in the NBA Development League, Russ Smith has returned to the NBA, the New Orleans Pelicans team announced Monday night.

The beloved University of Louisville guard played two games for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, averaging 14.5 points, three steals and three assists. Glaring on the stat sheet, though, were 4.5 turnovers a game.

What would Smith really want you to know about those performances? Well, his team won both of them.

Selected 47th overall out of U of L, Smith has played sparingly at the next level, appearing in three regular-season Pelicans games and going scoreless in each. His next chance comes Tuesday, when New Orleans hosts the New York Knicks at 8 p.m..

During his NBA hiatus, Smith also took to writing on his blog, "A Russdiculous but Civil View." The New York native's post from Saturday talks about decisions he's met throughout his life.

"The goal is to get better by making the best and most reasonable decisions you can make," Smith wrote. "Trust your heart. We know what is right from wrong but we tend to be influenced by our peers or what we think is cool. Teammates in the locker room or outsiders aren't always who you may think they are, so share your personal stories with your dad, mom or someone you know 110% you can trust. Make the smart decision, stay out of trouble and learn to be consistent and patient."
