Mass confusion in Week 5 ACC Power Rankings

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher talks to suspended Heisman quarterback Jameis Winston, who dressed in full pads for pre game warm ups, sending him back to the locker room to change on Saturday vs. Clemson.

If anyone claims to have any certainty to their ACC power rankings through four weeks of the 2014 season, they're lying.

Florida State beat Clemson, which is supposed to be the league's second-best team, despite not having Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston. The teams that charged up the poll in recent weeks -- Pitt, Virginia, Virginia Tech -- all lost on Saturday to confuse us even more.

And Louisville, one of the two power-conference teams we cover here at The Courier-Journal, just bewilders me beyond belief. The defense is magnificent. The offense is not. It still feels like we either haven't seen the Cardinals at their best, or we overestimated what their best actually is.

All in all, it's been a weird start to the season in the ACC, and no tweet or commentary summed it up better than this:

This week, Duke gets its first true test, with a night game at Miami. Syracuse hosts Notre Dame, and UNC at Clemson should be a decent game, too.

Without further ado, here are this week's ACC power rankings. Vote thumbs up or thumbs down for each team or send me a note on Twitter (@jeffgreer_cj) or via email (jgreer@courier-journal.com) and let me know what you think.
