STORYLINES

Wednesday's game should give Louisville coach Rick Pitino his 700th career win as a college coach. The Cardinals walloped Savannah State on Monday and will be heavy favorites against Cleveland State. It helps that U of L is the winningest program in college hoops over the past three-plus seasons, with 100 victories in that span.

Chinanu Onuaku's early rise to significance has been faster than expected. The 6-foot-10 freshman was considered one of Louisville's top bench options coming into the season, but he's won a starting job and made the most of it, though Louisville hasn't exactly played a murderer's row of opponents just yet. His development and progress now will help with games against Indiana and Ohio State in the next few weeks.

Granted, it's only been four games, and three of them have been against relative lightweights, but U of L's defensive statistics are staggering thus far. The Cards create turnovers on 28.5 percent of their opponents' possessions, which ranks eighth in the nation. Their opponents are shooting 19 percent from 3-point range and just 31 percent from the field.
