Victim identified in Prospect drowning

The Courier-Journal

The Prospect boy who died Sunday in an apparent drowning has been identified as 6-year-old Tyler Gibson.

Tyler, of the 7000 block of River Road, was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m. in the emergency room at Kosair Children's Hospital, according to Eddie Robinson, a deputy coroner for Jefferson County.

He said the findings of an autopsy showed Tyler's death was consistent with drowning.

The boy was pulled from a marina behind his home after being reported missing about 2:45 p.m. in the 7000 block of River Road, Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Officer Carey Klain said.

Shortly after officers arrived and were searching, they learned that the boy had been found and pulled from the water by a neighbor who began resuscitation efforts. The boy was then taken to the hospital, she said.

Klain said the boy had been playing with other children earlier, but did not know how long he had been missing or how long he had been in the water. She said parents reported the boy missing.

The boy's great aunt Sheila Harrison, who was at the boy's home later, said, "He was just a playful little child and he loved nature."
