Anthony Lamas (@anthony_lamas) of Seviche, 1538 Bardstown Road, will appear on an upcoming episode of Food Network’s new series “Beat Bobby Flay.”

“Obviously Bobby Flay has one of the best records on ‘Iron Chef’ … he went to Japan and won the original ‘Iron Chef’ there,” Lamas says. “People see him as a celebrity, but he’s actually a really great chef.”

For the new show, Lamas explains, “they’re taking some of the most talented chefs … they give two of them a chance to battle each other and whoever wins battles Bobby. Bobby comes out and says, ‘You want to battle me — first you battle each other.’

“He picks a secret ingredient, and me and the chef go head to head. Whoever wins, the chef gets to say ‘OK, Bobby, I’m ready to battle you.”

The winning chef then takes on Flay with a dish he or she thinks will beat the celebrity chef’s entry.

Lamas is no stranger to television. “I’ve done some things,” he says, “but this was different. It was one of the most intense experiences ever.”

While he can’t share details of the episode, “I think I made Louisville proud,” he says. “I’m happy to represent.”

Lamas’ episode will air at 10 p.m. March 3. Follow https://www.facebook.com/sevicherestaurant for details on a viewing party. Also check next week’s “The Dish” for more details.
