Chane Behanan to the NBA not yet a done deal

Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv reported Wednesday morning that former University of Louisville basketball player Chane Behanan had hired an agent and will declare for the NBA draft, giving up his NCAA eligibility.

At around 10 a.m., however, Behanan Tweeted from his account @chanetrigga5: “Never Reported anything so don’t listen. If I haven’t said it then it’s not true.”

Behanan signed with Colorado State in January and is taking online courses following his dismissal from the U of L program in December for a violation of team rules. He later admitted using marijuana and had been rehabbing at John Lucas’ center in Houston.

The 6-foot-6 forward, who averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds as a sophomore to help U of L win a national title, has a court date Tuesday in Louisville after being cited for marijuana possession on April 2. His status with Colorado State has not changed, and he is still considered part of the team.

Rams coach Larry Eustachy provided the following statement: “We’ve been in contact with Chane and are aware that he is looking at all options to continue his playing career. We want what is best for Chane and will support him in whatever decision he makes. We will know more in the coming days.”
