Jaylen Johnson had a bit of a delay in his summer workout plans, but the incoming University of Louisville basketball freshman is expected to arrive on campus in the coming days, a source told The Courier-Journal on Sunday evening.

Johnson, a power forward from Ypsilanti, Mich., was supposed to arrive at U of L last Tuesday, but his high school was slow in compiling and sending his transcript and other academic information to U of L and the NCAA, Louisville coach Rick Pitino said.

All the necessary paperwork is now filed, and the Louisville staff hopes Johnson can arrive on Tuesday.

"He's fine (academically), but because there were consolidations at his high school, their school is getting stuff in a lot slower," Pitino said at a news conference on Wednesday. "He's going to be behind everyone else because of that."

Johnson, an agile 6-foot-9 post player, is the only U of L freshman who isn't on campus yet.

Norwegian big man Matz Stockman received his visa and arrived in Louisville over the weekend.

"Great to finally be here," Stockman tweeted Sunday. "Feels like home already."

Swingman Shaqquan Aaron came to campus on Tuesday, when the U of L originally hoped Stockman and Johnson would also arrive.

Fellow freshmen Quentin Snider, Chinanu Onuaku and Anas Osama Mahmoud started workouts and classes at U of L in early June.

Pitino said on Wednesday that Johnson, though he's on the younger side for a freshman and needs to add some weight, could help the Cardinals off the bench in his first season.
