LOGANSPORT, Ind. — Trevon Bluiett and James Blackmon Jr. scored points in bunches all high school season, each averaging more than 30 points.

They did it together Monday night, combining for 52 points IndyStar Indiana All-Stars in a 140-91 rout of the Junior All-Stars at the Berry Bowl. Park Tudor's Bluiett scored 30 and Marion's Blackmon had 22.

"At first I didn't have shots falling for me so I looked for Trevon, he had it going," Blackmon said. "The second half I knew I would get it rolling. I just tried to be aggressive all night."

Blackmon, who will play for Indiana next season, was 2-of-11 in the first half and 7-of-9 in second half. It was the most points in the Seniors-Juniors history, which dates to 1996. The previous high was 133 for the Seniors in 1998. The 49-point win also is the largest margin of victory.

The Seniors did it without three All-Stars, including IndyStar Indiana Mr. Basketball Trey Lyles, who is headed to Kentucky. The 6-10 Lyles said he's had meningitis for about 10 days, and the doctor hasn't cleared him to play. He has a doctor appointment today. The teams play Kentucky in the annual series at Lexington on Friday night and Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday.

"I'm feeling better every day," Lyles said. "As a competitor, it's hard to sit out and watch your team play without you. It was tough but they won so I'm happy for them."

Bluiett score 21 of his 30 points in the first half and finished the night hitting 12-of-19 shots.

"That's what Trevon does, he's a shooter," Lyles said. "He capitalizes when he has open shots."

Blackmon and Bluiett have played on the same summer team since seventh grade.

"We knew what each other can do and it showed (Monday)," Blackmon said.

The Xavier-bound Bluiett hit 4-of-5 3-pointers in the first half.

"We wanted to come out with some firepower," Bluiett said. "I think at the beginning everyone was nervous and had some butterflies at first. After a couple of minutes up and down, you ended up being comfortable. The second half was like a regular basketball game to us, and that's when we really took it to them."

The Seniors, who led 60-49 at halftime, hit 34-of-56 shots in the second half.

"I think we're one of the best states in the country as far as (basketball) talent wise," Bluiett said. "I think we have great team chemistry. It's been a great experience to play with these guys."

Sitting out with injuries were Brebeuf Jesuit's P.J. Thompson and Plymouth's Mack Mercer.

Thompson, a Purdue signee, was out after aggravating a foot injury he suffered at the end of the regular season. The 5-11 guard hopes to be back for Wednesday's game against the Juniors at Columbus North.

"I just wanted to be patient with it and so did Purdue so I'll be OK with I get down to campus," Thompson said.

Juniors girls roll

The Junior Girls outscored the Seniors 46-30 in the second half in an 82-61 romp. Lawrence North point guard Ana Owens said her Seniors team didn't want to use the lack of practice time together as an excuse.

"They outplayed us. We just got to play harder next time," Owens said.

"It showed us we have to have a better effort and better defense."

For IndyStar Miss Basketball Whitney Jennings from Logansport, it was a disappointing final game in her home gym.

"We knew the juniors have a really good class and a lot of great players," said Jennings, who scored 11 points. "We're just going to learn from this game and try to improve upon it on Wednesday. We didn't bring as much energy as they did, especially on defense and rebounding where we're not quite as big."
