GREENSBORO, N.C. — The University of Louisville was picked to finish third in the Atlantic Coast Conference's Atlantic Division in a preseason media poll released Monday at the ACC Football Kickoff.

The Cardinals didn't receive any first-place votes, most of which went to league-title favorite Florida State, the defending national champion that returns Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jameis Winston.

Clemson was picked second in the Atlantic Division. The Tigers were the only Atlantic team to garner any first-place votes, getting three to FSU's 109.

All but four voters picked FSU to win the ACC championship game, which will be played in Charlotte on Dec. 6. Two voters picked Clemson to win that game, and two others chose Virginia Tech.

Winston was the overwhelming choice for preseason ACC player of the year, receiving 99 of the 108 votes. Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley got six votes, and Miami running back Duke Johnson, Duke receiver Jamison Crowder and Virginia Tech Brenden Motley each totaled one vote.

The Coastal Division was the only area in Monday's release where it appeared media members had trouble predicting a winner.

Miami was narrowly picked the Coastal favorite ahead of Duke, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. Duke received the most first-place votes, but Miami totaled more overall points.

In Louisville's division, the media picked Syracuse fourth, followed by North Carolina State, Boston College and Wake Forest.
