Wynn Las Vegas -- which regularly provides The Courier-Journal with future odds for the Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup, as well as for other sporting events such as the University of Louisville and Kentucky -- has opened its future book for the 2015 Kentucky Derby next May.

Wynn sports book boss John Avello has Del Mar Futurity winner American Pharoah at 40-1. That colt, owned by Zayat Stables and trained by Bob Baffert, took the second bet (amount not revealed) and dropped to 30-1, Avello said.

The first bet made was on Saratoga's Hopeful winner Competitive Edge, who opened at 60-1, dropped to 50-1, was bet again and soon dropped to 40-1.

Another horse getting immediate action was Conquest Panthera, a winner at Del Mar in his first start who opened up at 175-1, was dropped to 125-1 after the action and was bet again. Others: Daredevil, impressive winner of his debut Saturday at Belmont, opened at 85-1 and now is 60-1; Carpe Diem (first-time out Saratoga winner and a $1.6 million 2-year-old purchase with WinStar Farm and Stonestreet Stables partnering as owners) at 100-1 and now is 65-1.

Others who opened at under 100-1 include Hopeful runner-up I Spent It; Cozmic One (first foal of Zenyatta and who recently had his first published work); Jess's Dream (first foal of Rachel Alexandra); Hopeful winner Competitive Edge, 60-1; Churchill Downs' Iroquois winner Lucky Player; Hashtag Bourbon, a troubled third in the Iroquois, 60-1; the 5-for-5 California-bred Wake Up Nick 75-1; and the Baffert-trained Del Mar maiden winner Lord Nelson, 85-1.
