Wide receiver Robert Clark left University of Louisville's football program last month and transferred to Samford University, his high school coach said Thursday.

Clark, who graduated from U of L this spring, caught 25 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown in 2013 but didn't see a viable route to significant playing time in 2014.

"He wanted to be a guy that was a more integral part of an offense," said Jack Daniels, the football coach at Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

"It was hard for him. Louisville has a lot of (receivers)."

Clark would have competed for playing time with seniors Kai De La Cruz, Eli Rogers and Michaelee Harris, who each have similar skill sets to Clark.

The redshirt senior transferred to Louisville from Florida, alongside high school and college teammate Gerald Christian, after collecting seven catches for the Gators in 2011. He sat out the 2012 season because of transfer rules.

Samford is a Division I-AA FCS program located in Birmingham. Ala.
