Former Louisville linebacker Lyn Clark has found a new home.

The 6-foot-2, 244-pound redshirt freshman asked for and was granted his release from Louisville in recent days, and FCS program Northwestern State announced his transfer on Tuesday night.

Clark, the school said, is eligible immediately because Louisville and NSU are not on the same level of college football.

The move brings Clark closer to home. The New Orleans native was a three-star linebacker in Louisville's 2013 signing class, and he redshirted last season. He was competing for backup time this fall.

Clark declined comment earlier this week when asked why he left the Cardinals.

Joe Manley leaves

Backup offensive lineman Joe Manley asked for and received his release from Louisville this week. He's already transferred to Western Kentucky, per the Bowling Green Daily News.

Manley, a 6-foot-6, 333-pound redshirt sophomore, played in nine games in 2013, mostly on special teams. The Bowling Green native redshirted his first year on U of L's campus and was fighting for a spot on the depth chart during preseason camp this month.

As a high school senior, Manley was considered the 10th-best prospect in Kentucky, according to 247 Sports' composite rankings. He reportedly had scholarship offers from Western Kentucky and Kentucky, in addition to Louisville.

He was part of Louisville's 2012 signing class, which ranked 45th in the nation and included linebackers Keith Brown, James Burgess and Nick Dawson, defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins, safety Gerod Holliman and quarterback Will Gardner, among others.
