The teenage girl fatally shot Saturday night in the 600 block of S. 24th Street has been identified as 16-year-old Shavon Ross.

Ross, who lived on the 1200 block of West Hill Street, was pronounced dead at about 6:20 p.m. Saturday at the scene of the shooting, said deputy coroner Rita Taylor. The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, she said.

A second victim also was being treated for injuries that weren't expected to be life-threatening after being shot, possibly near Magazine Street, Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.

Police canvassed the Russell neighborhood for evidence Saturday evening, but had no immediate suspects.

As of Sunday afternoon, Mitchell said no new information had become available.
