From the lemonade to the lettering on University of Louisville baseball players’ uniforms, Jim Patterson Stadium is going pink on Tuesday.

The Cardinals will for the fourth straight year host a Cancer Awareness Night, this one coming with a 6 p.m. first pitch against in-state rival Western Kentucky.

U of L’s hats and jerseys will be highlighted in pink, and $1 from every lemonade sale supports Home Runs for Hope, a fundraiser supporting Gilda's Club of Louisville. Admission to Patterson Stadium is free.

“This is always a very special night for our team because of the significant impact cancer has had in the lives of so many people inside our baseball program,” said U of L coach Dan McDonnell, who’s also encouraging fans to wear pink to the game.

“This night is about remembering the loved ones we’ve lost to this terrible illness and celebrating those survivors among us who display amazing courage in defeating cancer. We encourage fans to wear their pink and join us for another special evening at the ballpark.”

U of L beat WKU 5-3 in the teams’ other meeting on March 26 in Bowling Green. The Cardinals enter Tuesday 28-11, while the Hilltoppers are 21-19.
