The University of Louisville leveraged its 66-21 victory over Murray State to a four-spot boost in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday afternoon.

U of L head coach Bobby Petrino yells instructions as the Cardinals take on Murray State on Saturday at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

The Cardinals, who entered the poll at No. 25 last week following a season-opening win over Miami, are now 21st, one of four ranked Atlantic Coast Conference teams. Florida State is No. 1, Virginia Tech jumped to 17th thanks to its upset of Ohio State, and Clemson is 23rd.

U of L sits 26th by votes in the newest Amway Top 25 votes by coaches and also topped by Florida State.

Florida, the University of Kentucky's upcoming opponent, received votes in both sets of rankings.

Unlike in years past, when the coaches poll played into the BCS standings, rankings don't factor in which teams make the new College Football Playoff.
