A pedestrian is dead after a vehicle ran off the road and struck a man walking in the grass near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Breckenridge Lane.

Louisville Metro Police Department responded to the 4700 block of Bardstown Road at about 4 p.m. Saturday to a reported collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said in an email.

The accident location is just west of the intersection with Watterson Trail.

Mitchell said it appears the driver of a green Chrysler was traveling north on Bardstown Road when it ran off the roadway for unknown reasons and struck the man walking in the grass.

The pedestrian received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Mitchell said. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
