Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino took to the stage at Tuesday's University of Louisville ACC induction party to announce a "Black Out" at U of L football's season opener in two months.

Petrino, speaking before hordes of U of L fans crowded into downtown Louisville's Fourth Street Live! walking area, introduced linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin and offensive lineman Jake Smith to crowd, and the two seniors strolled on stage in their all-black uniforms and helmets.

Those uniforms, Petrino said, will be part of the "Black Out" against Miami at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on Sept. 1, which is Labor Day. Not only is that game the season opener, it's also U of L's first ACC game. Vegas oddsmakers have already made it a toss-up.

"I've always felt it was important for your players to look good and feel good, and then you have a chance to go out and play well," Petrino said.

He had Mauldin model the all-black uniforms for his teammates shortly after Petrino was hired back at U of L. The players reacted similarly to the fans on Tuesday night.
