With the University of Kentucky emerging as the possible favorite to land five-star Memphis-area center Skal Labissiere on Thursday night, scrutiny is intensifying into the Haitian native's unusual background and the actions of his American guardian.

Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com published a story Wednesday that Hamilton asked former AAU coach Keith Easterwood two years ago, "How can I make money off of a basketball player?"

Parrish writes that in Labissiere's recruitment,"the red flags are numerous" due to Labissiere's relationship with Hamilton, who has controlled all aspects of his recruitment.

Parrish and ESPN reporter Jeff Goodman said the NCAA has already begun to look into Labissiere's recruitment.

Skal Labissiere.

Hamilton moved Labissiere out of Evangelical Christian Academy to Lausanne Collegiate this school year, and he's been ruled ineligible this season as a transfer. In the meantime, Labissiere has said that while he attends Lausanne, he'll play basketball this season for a program called Reach Your Dream Prep, which Hamilton has started basically from scratch.

Labissiere has also played for three club teams over the past two years.

Labissiere's decision comes at 6 p.m. Thursday on ESPN. He's considering UK, Memphis, North Carolina, Baylor. Georgetown and Tennessee.
