Refresh often (or click here) for updates throughout Saturday's 7 p.m. meeting between the University of Louisville and Virginia basketball teams.

Final: Virginia 52, U of L 47.

U of L drew to within three on a Chris Jones three-point play, but with 10 seconds left, the Cards were forced to foul. Malcolm Brogdon hit them both, sealing a Cavaliers win.

Brogdon led all players with 15 points, while for U of L Terry Rozier had 16, Montrezl Harrell 12, Chris Jones 11 and Wayne Blackshear 8.

"Those were two defensive teams slugging it out," Virginia coach Tony Bennett told ESPN.

Bennett's Cavaliers actually shot worse (33.3 percent) than U of L (37 percent) but committed just two turnovers and hit 16 of 22 free throws. The Cards tallied just 13 attempts from the line.

0:34, 2H: U of L's Montrezl Harrell scored on consecutive possessions to cut the deficit to four points. With the score 49-45, Rick Pitino's using his last timeout. Enough time, though?

2:50, 2H: Virginia's solidly in control and content to burn clock at this point. That's not too different from the previous 37 minutes tonight. It's 47-39 on a night when, for the second game in a row, U of L's "Core Four" players have all the Cards' points on 31.7 percent shooting.

4:35, 2H: After U of L closed to two possessions, Virginia responded with a quick, 4-0 spurt moving the lead back to double digits at 45-35. Maclcolm Brogdon's 3-pointer followed an Anthony Gill free throw.

6:07, 2H: Wayne Blackshear responded to a putback Virginia dunk with his second 3-pointer of the night. It's 41-35, and suddenly a ball game again...

7:08, 2H: Virginia's Isaiah Wilkins ran into Montrezl Harrell and bulked before the under-eight timeout, allowing for an easy Cards bucket (it's 39-32) and potentially knocking out one of the Cavliers. Wilkins, the son NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, has had a quiet night -- 0 points and 1 rebound in 10 minutes.

7:53, 2H: Every time it appears Virginia's poised to completely put this one away, the Cards have made a play. Wayne Blackshear just hit a second-chance 3-pointer, pulling U of L to within 39-30. They're in the bonus, too.

9:41, 2H: As U of L commits its 9th turnover -- Virginia has 2 -- a look at the Cards' scoring -- Terry Rozier (10), Chris Jones (9) and Montrezl Harrell (6) are the only players with points as Rick Pitino's bunch approaches some historic lows.

11:12, 2H: Rick Pitino's down to one timeout with his team down 34-23. After a soaring Anthony Gill dunk by Virginia, U of L's coach spent another.

11:40, 2H: Montrezl Harrell ended a personal scoreless streak on a recent Cards possession, working deep into the post and scoring from the block with a pair of defenders hanging on him. He has just 4 points tonight as U of L trails 32-23.

13:16, 2H: Rick Pitino wants another timeout. An Evan Nolte 3-pointer gave Virginia its largest lead of the night, at 32-19, minutes after it looked as if U of L was clawing back. The Cards are working another scoring drought now, this one so far measuring 3:17.

14:15, 2H: Virginia's back out to a double-digit lead at 29-19 and doing it without Justin Anderson, a starter who averages 13.9 points per game but hurt his hand in the first half tonight.

15:40, 2H: Into the under-16 timeout, U of L's showing plenty of life. The Cards trail 26-19 and are off to a 3 of 7 (42.9 percent) shooting start in the second half. Terry Rozier's 10 points lead all scorers, while Chris Jones has 7 and Montrezl Harrell 2 to round out U of L's scoring.

16:39, 2H: Mike Tobey -- Virginia's reserve center who broke out in the first half to score a game-high 9 points -- just picked up his third foul and is back to the bench. U of L trails 26-17 but is going about offense differently, attacking the rim with its guards.

18:26, 2H: On a Chris Jones made jumper, the drought is over 11-plus minutes later for U of L, which despite its offensive struggles trails just 24-15.

19:01, 2H: U of L and Virginia exchanged missed shots to open the second half. And so it begins -- again.

20:00, 2H: First to 50 wins? The second half is underway with U of L's starters -- including Montrezl Harrell, who picked up two fouls in the first half -- back on the floor.

Halftime: Virginia 24, U of L 13.

The Hoos had their way, closing the half on an 11-0 run, with the Cards' last bucket coming on Montrezl Harrell's dunk at the 10:32 mark. That made it 13-13, after which Virginia closed on an 11-0 run despite hitting 2 of its final 11 from the field.

No, this isn't a game for pretty offense.

Said ESPN's Seth Greenberg after U of L went 4 of 21 (19 percent) from the field and without a fast break point: "If you can't score, you can't press. And if you can press, Louisville really can't score."

2:46, 1H: The state of U of L's offense? Virginia is 1 of its last 7 from the field but is on a 9-0 run nonetheless. The Cards are 4 of 18 from the field, unable to hit against the Cavliers' high-pressure halfcourt offense.

3:52, 1H: The score remains the same into the under-four timeout, though the Cards may be without Montrezl Harrell for the rest of the half now that U of L's star forward just picked up his second foul. Eleven of Rick Pitino's players have logged minutes a couple days after the coach said he was content to leave his starters in for long periods.

4:56, 1H: Rick Pitino wants a timeout. His lineup includes Quentin Snider, Anton Gill, Wayne Blackshear, Jaylen Johnson and Chinanu Onuaku. The Cards just gave up an alley-oop that in turn handed Virginia its largest lead at 19-13.

6:21, 1H: U of L ran into a shot clock violation heading into the under-eight timeout. The Cards, with Anton Gill logging minutes to spell Terry Rozier, trail 17-13 and haven't scored in 4:11, missing their last four shots.

8:59, 1H: As Virginia pokes ahead 15-13 on a Darion Atkins post move, it's worth pointing out that through 11 minutes, the home team doesn't have a turnover. The Cards have three.

12:09, 1H: With the score tied 11-11, it's a scoring show between U of L's Terry Rozier and Virginia's Mike Tobey, both of them battling hard at the offensive end. Rozier has 8 points on 2 of 3 shooting and Tobey -- a reserve -- 9 on a 4 of 4 start.

14:10, 1H: U of L's having trouble with center Mike Tobey, who has a trio of buckets off the bench -- one of them with a foul and free throw -- giving him 7 points already to go with 3 rebounds. Virginia leads 9-7.

15:41, 1H: Both sides are playing a zone with heavy man-to-man tendencies early, and it's 5-5 into the under-16 timeout. Terry Rozier added free throws to Chris Jones' made bucket, bolstering U of L amid a 1 of 4 start from the field.

17:18, 1H: Following a pair of U of L misses from the field, Chris Jones' 3-pointer has the Cards on the board and out to an early lead. Virginia countered with the game's first fast-break bucket -- and don't expect U of L to get many of its own against this defense. It's 3-2.

19:29, 1H: U of L won the opening tip and got the ball inside to Montrezl Harrell, but his turnaround jumper didn't fall. This one's under way in a packed John Paul Jones Arena.

20:00, 1H: Starters are in, and it's the regular five for the Cards, set to meet Virginia for the first time in 23 years.

PREGAME: In Saturday's first heavyweight Atlantic Coast Conference matchup, Duke avenged an earlier loss to Notre Dame in blowout fashion. The second pits U of L and Virginia, capping the first-ever day two with ACC games between top 10 opponents.

The Cards are a 7 1/2-point underdog, per VegasInsider.com. ButU of L's played much better on the road this season, shooting 53 percent from the field in league games so far away from the KFC Yum! Center.
