The gift is bought, wrapped and boxed up for a holiday journey to Grandma’s. And if UPS is your delivery Santa, there is a good chance that no matter where in the world Grandma lives it will go through the UPS Worldport in Louisville.

Louisville is home to a systematic sorting hub with hundreds of miles of conveyor belts in over 6 million square feet of buildings.

Courier Journal sent three photographers and a dozen cameras inside to capture how the season of giving gets to where it’s going. Watch the video above to see what it looks like.

Here's a look at UPS by the numbers:

►The Worldport averages 318 flights in and out per day. That will double to more than 600 flights the week before Christmas, according to UPS.

►On a normal day, Worldport sorts 2 million packages. That will double to 4 million the week before Christmas.

►Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, UPS will deliver over 30 million packages in 17 of the 21 delivery days between the two holidays.

►During the holiday season, UPS will deliver enough boxes to go around the world 8.5 times.
