Lamar Jackson has shined in the ACC again, winning the conference’s Player of the Year Award for the second straight season.

He is the sixth player to win the award twice, and the first since Florida State’s Charlie Ward did so in 1992 and 1993. Forty-five media members and the 14 ACC head coaches voted on the award. Jackson received 51 of 59 votes. NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb received six, and Clemson defensive linemen Clelin Ferrell and Christian Wilkins each received one.

Louisville’s quarterback climbed further up the ACC record books this season as a junior. He now ranks eighth all-time in career rushing yards, even after just two-plus seasons as a quarterback. He is third all-time in career total yards.

Jackson was also an All-ACC first-team honoree, announced Monday. He and Boston College running back A.J. Dillon tied for first with 171 voting points received from the conferences’ coaching.

Jackson followed up on last year’s Heisman Trophy campaign by passing for 3,489 yards, running for 1,443 and totaling 42 touchdowns in the regular season. He rushed for 11 more yards than Dillon with four more touchdowns on 60 fewer carries. If Jackson can hold that 11-yard lead to finish first in the conference in rushing, he will be the first quarterback ever to do so.

Last season, Jackson set ACC records for rushing yards and touchdowns by a quarterback with 1,571 and 21, respectively. He can break his own yards record with 129 in Louisville’s bowl game, a mark he reached in five of the Cards’ last six games.
