A Louisville Metro Police detective is now facing misdemeanor charges of soliciting a prostitute following an internal departmental investigation.

Dustin Henke, 31, is charged with first-degree official misconduct and three counts of solicitation of prostitution. He is accused of paying for sex with escorts between November 2015 and April 2016.

Henke has been placed on administrative duty and his police powers have been suspended, Louisville Metro Police said in a post on the department's Facebook page. Henke was served with the summons late Tuesday.

Charges arose from a Public Integrity Unit investigation following allegations that Henke solicited prostitutes multiple times. The police department declined further comment, citing the pending criminal case.

Henke used Backpage.com on March 19 to meet up with an escort with whom he then met multiple times that week at both Charlie Vettiner Park and Long Run Park, according to a criminal complaint. Money was exchanged for sex in at least two of those meetings, the document alleges.

On March 22, knowing an investigation had been launched, Henke gave another detective's number to an escort with whom he had met before and intended to connect with again, investigators said.

Henke "warned the individual not to answer calls from that number with the intent to confer to her the benefit of avoiding arrest and to hinder LMPD's investigation," the complaint alleges.

The detective has been a sworn officer with the department since 2009. A copy of his personnel file was not immediately available.
