ATLANTA - Louisville basketball's Deng Adel was helped off the court during Saturday's game at Georgia Tech after suffering what a U of L spokesman said was a concussion.

He did not return to the game Saturday but team trainers deemed him in decent enough shape to fly home with the team after Louisville's 65-50 win.

"We don't know what Deng's situation is going to be - we'll have to wait and see," U of L assistant coach David Padgett said. "... Hopefully Deng will be back soon, but we'll see how it goes."

Adel, a sophomore, took a hard spill after a layup try in the first half. Officials stopped play after Adel remained face down on the floor. It appeared on a television replay that Adel took a knee to a head in a scrum for a loose ball.

U of L trainer Fred Hina rushed to Adel, who had to be ushered off the court with a towel over his head. Adel was wobbly as he walked, and the 6-7, 200-pound forward required two people to help him keep his balance.

"That's a big loss if he doesn't show up for the next game," junior guard Quentin Snider said. "People just have to step up."

It's the third concussion suffered by a U of L player this season. Anas Mahmoud and Matz Stockman both had the same injury, with Stockman not traveling to Georgia Tech this weekend and missing his second consecutive game.

Mahmoud missed three games earlier this season.
